Brother’s task

When I got home, Lady Anna welcomed me.

“Lady Anna! You are back.”

I was surprised at her presence, actually happy more than surprised.

She’s a short lady with silver hair tied in a neat bun. She has gray eyes with a small nose. When she smiled at my surprise, wrinkles formed under her eyes. She was at her sisters’ place as her sister was hospitalized for some reason.

“How is your sister now?” I asked with concern in my voice.

“Much better.” She responded with a smile. And we walked inside.

Adam was playing a video game. I walked towards him and knocked on his head.

“Hey, kiddo!”

“Oh! You are back, Levy.” He turned his gaze towards me then again shifted it back onto the screen.

I glanced at our clock it’s 10 to 4.

I have to be there at 5’O’clock.

I quickly had my lunch which was already prepared by Lady Anna. I’m glad that she is back. After having a quick bath I dressed in a suit. Yes, a suit. Blue color trousers and coat with a white shirt inside it and tied my long hair into a neat bun where some flicks were falling on my fake glasses.

As I walked out of my room, both of them stared at me with their dropped jaw.

This is awkward.

“What’s gotten into you, Levy?”
Adam asked with his eyes wide.

Where Lady Anna just stayed quiet.

“Brothers’ second soul,” I replied while walking towards the door.

“Don’t tell me you’re going out like that,” Adam said, frowning.

“I’m not saying, but going.” With that, I left and drove towards our office.

I reached the front of a 7 floors building and took an elevator to the last floor which landed me in front of a big glass door. I took a deep breath and with a swift movement, flew open the door. This made all the eyes focused on me. I stayed there for a couple of minutes until uncle Wilson arrived. An old man with silver hair on the back and side of his head, round bald at the center. Wrinkled skin and barely opened eyes. He has a sharp nose and small lips. Wearing a black suit along with a tie and black shoes.

Next time I should remember a tie in my dress code.

He introduced me as ‘Miss Troustkey’ to everyone which caused whispers among themselves.

“Is she going to be our boss?”…..”She is just a teenager”…..”What is Mr. Wilson is thinking?”

Oh no! This is exactly happening as I thought.

Within these whispers, I heard someone chuckled. This is going out of hand. I walked in the direction of the chuckling sound with a cold and sharp look on my face just as brother told to do so. I could see a normal height man wearing a white shirt, brown trousers, and a red tie.

I got close enough to his table placing my hands on it. I frowned with coldness in my eyes. I wished I could freeze him. Without me saying a word he murmured a low sorry.

Really? Wow! This cold gaze is working
What should I reply now?

Suddenly I remembered words of Loren and I mimicked him.

“As it’s your first mistake, it’s forgivable,” I said sharply maintaining my look which made him gulp hard.

I scared him.

This time silence formed in the room. No whispers, no chuckles. Only stares, everyone was staring at me with surprise.

I didn’t bother to look at them and walked straight towards a cabin.

“Phew!” I sighed heavily as soon as I was inside the cabin.

Then turned towards uncle. “Uncle Wilson-” I was about to say something but was cut by his words.

“You are not supposed to call me ‘uncle’ Miss Troustkey.”

“Why? I have always called you uncle.”

I know him since I was a kid. He was the mothers’ secretary and often visits us.
“Because now, I am your secretary and you are my boss.” He said calmly.

“But-” I was cut by him again.

“Now have your seat and” He took out a file and put it in front of the employer’s seat. “Read this file.” He supplied.

I did as told and read the complete file thoroughly. There was a pending work on certain lands. I asked uncle about it. He explained me everything.

“So, can we conduct a meeting now?” I asked him.

“Now?” He questioned my question.

“Yes, can’t we?” I was confused. Was there a particular time to hold meetings?

“We can, are you ready?” He asks surprisingly.

“Yes.” I nodded.

The meeting room was a big hall with a long table and chairs were placed on either side of it. A big projector screen is fixed exactly in front of the table.

Slowly 10 members – who are in this project gathered and took their seats, I stood in front of the screen and started speaking.

“Welcome everyone.”

No greetings nothing. I started directly.

“Firstly.”

I said while presenting the project on the screen and continued.

“I want to know why this project is not yet started.”

I stayed quiet for them to answer.
Everyone exchanged some glares and then a man stood up.

“Because it’s risky.” He said nervously.
How could you directly say such a thing to your employer?

I clear my throat and spoke.

“Taking risk will end up on the two things. Either you can win or you will be wise.”

This cause silence in the whole room.

I clear my throat again to kill the silence.

“Now anyone explain merits and demerits please.” I supplied, acting all mature.

The same person stood up and spoke.
“This land is a bit far from the main city where you can barely find houses. Starting construction will cause loss.”

Giving thought to his words. “What do you want to construct there?” I asked in my thinking state.

“We have many options, like a hotel, a shopping mall and anything else if you prefer.” He answered.

I thought for a while before answering.

A hotel will not work no one is there to stay, neither a mall, hmm.

“Ok, we are going to construct a building whose ground floor will contain a medical hall, 1st-floor food restaurant, 2nd a hotel, 3rd a shopping mall and 4th a gaming center.”  I halted. “Any queries?”

“Will it work?” The same person asked, furrowing his eyebrows.

“Why not? Every need of people will be full fill at a single place.”

Now, this sounds wise.

“And, can we add a swimming pool on the top?” I asked.

“Ma’am this might create weight on the building.” He said stammering on the word ma’am.

“Yeah, that’s right. So, start working on it and get me a blueprint of the building within an hour and meeting dismissed. You may leave now.” I said straight.

I don’t know how to end it

Maybe I sounded a bit rude.

I went back to my cabin. Uncle smiled at me with ‘you did well.’ He just faked that. I sat in my EMPLOYER chair. Yes, my employer chair sounds funny. Removing my coat I hung it on the chairs’ hand.

This thing is tiring, but I’m enjoying it.

I leaned forward on the table resting my head on my stretched arm. Time passed without my realization.

I saw a cordless phone, took the receiver to order something.

I have to differentiate between when I am hungry and bored

I ordered a cup of coffee.

Within some time there were 2 knocks on the door of my cabin. First was my order and second was the same person who was answering at the meeting. He was standing at the door with a file in his hand.

“Come in,” I said.

He was a young man with normal features hazel color eyes. Wearing a sky blue shirt along with a black tie and black trousers.

He was standing and staring at me.

What’s wrong?

I clear my throat and repeated myself.
“Come in, Mister.”

He did and put the file on the table with continues stare.

“Take your seat,” I said acting like a complete boss while placing my coffee aside.

Why is he staring at me? This is making me uncomfortable.

By his stares, I realized my bun was loosing some strands of my hair. But that’s not the reason for his stare, my first button of the shirt was undone, I wasn’t even wearing a coat and books were spread on the table.

Oops.

You know the button which is suffocating.

I ignored his stare and cleared my throat to alert him. Steepling my fingers while placing my elbows on the table I said. “Present your work.”

He started settling the papers in the file nervously.

Wasting time.

If he wastes time like this, my hot coffee will turn cold.

“Take your time Mister,” I said moving my chair a bit back while picking up the cup of coffee.

I drank my coffee but didn’t ask him to show his work immediately. This will show that I gave priority to a coffee rather than him. So, I picked a book from the table and started reading it to actually give him time. It’s a French dictionary.

I needed it.

After complete 15 minutes, “Ready to present?”  I asked glancing at my wristwatch.

“Huh?” He looked at me. “Yes.” Then answered.

He explained everything which he prepared.

Quite impressive.

“Accepted,” I said and he stood from his chair to leave.

Before he could leave I asked his name which was ‘John Anderson.’

“You may leave,” I said in a calm voice. He nodded and left the cabin.

It’s almost 9 and my job ends here. I told uncle that I’m leaving as well. He affirmatively nodded.

I picked up my coat and put it on. While leaving I saw a door in the right corner.

Suspicious.

“What’s that door for?” I asked the uncle.

“It’s a personal elevator.” He answered while arranging some file.

I am going to use that.

I am not going to face their stares again.

My personal elevator starts from my cabin and ends in the parking area. No other stops in between.

I was back home tired at 9:45. I slept without changing or having dinner.

Day ends.

Next day I was almost late for college. Jacob was already in class, he asked my math notes.

Oh no! I haven’t done my homework.

This time Afrodoid, Jacob and I were in Loren’s cabin doing our homework.

Sleepily my head was making to and fro movements while I was writing.

“Levy…Levy!” I heard Jacob calling me in a low voice while hitting me with his elbow.

I didn’t respond. My eyelids were getting heavier by each second then darkness surrounded.

I fell asleep.

New Lecturer

The same routine continued the following day. Dropping Adam school and then me going to college. Today I was too early in the class, could hardly see 4-5 classmates. After 20 minutes Jacob entered and sat beside me.

“Hey.” I waved at him.

“Hi.” He leaned on the writing bench.

“Why so lethargic?” I asked.

“Oh! You don’t know.” He was saying something but stopped and asked: “Who was that ‘red end hair’ girl?”

Trying to change the subject.

“Someone is showing interest in girls,” I smirked at him.

He rarely has an interest in girls. It’s not like he is gay, I don’t know whether or not he is.

“I am just curious as you’re talking to someone who isn’t me.” He defended himself, looking elsewhere but me.

This shows he really is interested in her.

I bend towards him and spoke in a low, teasing voice. “Do you see your love for eternity in her?”

“I never said anything like that.” He snapped and, I chuckled.

The crowd increased as it’s almost time for the class to begin.

A familiar figure entered with a chemistry book in his hand. Stood behind the table he placed the book on it.

“What?” I said loud enough to gain some glares from nearby people and ‘him.’

I turned towards Jacob with a questioned face.

“Our new chemistry lecturer.” He responded, without me questioning.

“Since when?” Hoping that today is the first day.

“Since yesterday,” He replied.
“BTW where were you yesterday?”

I ignored his question and was staring at him. His blue-green eyes were shining by the fall on the light. It’s him the one I bumped into yesterday. I averted my gaze the moment his eyes met mine.

“Page no. 57.” He said.

Just page no. 57, nothing like take out page no. so and so, nor any longer sentence.

A man of few words. As soon as I got to know he is a teacher. My mind changed him to a man from a boy.

“Second seat, black hair, a gray T-shirt and black jeans,” He said, coldly.

I threw a glance at me. Was he indicating me? Of course. You idiot. I stood up.

His eyes met mine. “Out,” He commanded.

What? Was the first word that came into my mind. “Why?” Is the word which I asked.

Yesterday’s scene flashed through my mind. Me rejecting to attend his class. Oh no!  Who thought he would be a lecturer?

“I do have a concern about my class and its students.” He said not looking towards me but to the book in his hand.

This recalled my yesterday’s respond towards him.

What should I do now? I had never been out of the class before. Should I go back home? Or stand out? Or what?

Instead, I defended myself.

“Making a college student stand out of the class is not appropriate.”

I said in a calm voice, yet anger was boiling inside me. Who does such a thing? What is he? A KG teacher? I thought to say it out loud but didn’t.

Now his eyes met mine. “As long as you are in my class, you have to obey my commands.”

My class my rule type. Phup!

What should I make up now?
Think of a reply Levy…Think… Think…Think.

“By the way, why am I being punished?” I asked.

Yes exactly, I should have asked that before.

Y don’t have a particular reason to punish me. I thought and raised a victory flag in my head. It was hard to conceal the smile.

“As it’s your first mistake, I forgive you.” He said calmly not looking away from his book.

Forgive me? As if I made a mistake and no matter what, I’m not going to apologize.

Then he turned towards the class.
“Whoever has equated the yesterday’s equations may come and leave their worksheets on the table.”

Everyone, literally everyone stood and did as he said. Even Jacob.

I turned towards him surprisingly. How can he?  Did chemistry become so easy within a day?

Noticing my reaction Jacob said.
“He really explains well.” I was alone who haven’t done this work.
Our eyes met again. “Now what miss? It’s your second mistake.”

I can’t even say I was absent, so I stayed quiet.

He looked at the sheets on the table and said. “Bring this to my office after the class.” He then continued his teaching.

Is that a punishment? Or just a request? No, not a request for sure.

I ignore my thoughts and concentrated on the class. His teaching was far better than Miss Sherley’s yet weird. Being good at chemistry makes a person weird.

Class ended.

After class, I picked up the worksheets and noticed he already left. Neither I know his office nor his name. So, I asked Jacob his name and walked out of the class with the sheets in my hands.

I checked each teacher’s cabin one after another and found one with a half-opened door where ‘Loren Blake’ was written on it.

Hearing to my knock on the door and he raised his head from the book he was reading. A physics book huh? Strange. Never mind.

“Oh! Come in. Miss?”

“Levy Troutsky.” I walked in and kept the worksheets on the table. As I turned my heels to leave, he spoke.

“Who ask you could leave?”

“Excuse me?”

“You are not excused right now.” He said while closing his book.

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.

He walked towards me with a sheet of paper in his hand and kept in on the table beside me. “Equate these equations. Now.”

“Seriously?” I didn’t intend to say it out loud, but it came out of my mouth without my permission.

“Does it look like a joke to you?” He sat again taking those worksheets.

Yes.

I quietly sat there. Yes. I sat quietly; doing nothing I don’t know how to do this.

Today he was wearing a black unbuttoned shirt with a black T-shirt inside it which fits him perfectly exposing his toned muscles. Sleeves were folded in the same manner. Black trousers and black shoes.

Again black.

Time passed, I started playing with the pen. After complete 15 minutes, he stood again and walked towards me. His sight shifted from my unanswered sheet and then to me.

“I don’t know how to solve this,” I said quickly before he could utter a word.

In response, he put his left hand on the back of the chair and stoops forward while taking the pen from my hand. We were too close that my little movement could make our heads collide. I stayed still staring at the paper while he was explaining.

“Equalize every chemical on either side of the equal sign.”

I could feel his warm breath against my cheek.

“Huh?” Confused I turned towards him. His cheek and my nose brushed on my action. With a swift movement, I straightened my head.

“Do you get it?” he asked.

“No.”

He differentiated every element present in the equation.

“Look,” He said.

Obeying him, I looked down at the paper with full of concentration. While some strands of my hair were falling on it. I quickly tugged them back of my ear and re-concentrated.

“If there are 2 hydrogens on the right side then is mandatory to have 2 hydrogens on the left side. Every chemical should present equally on either side.” He supplied.

Surprisingly I understood what he explained.

“This thing is similar to math,” I exclaimed.

“Finally your thick head get it.” He straightened himself.

Thick head? Why? Is it because you really got hit hard? I thought but didn’t respond.

I continued equating equations. Within some minutes completed. I walked towards him, handed my sheet and was waiting for his command.

“You may leave now.” He said while keeping my sheet along with the others.

Finally.

Yawning, I left his cabin. Almost spend 35 minutes there which missed my language class.

I directly went to the next class which was physics and was 10 minutes earlier. Folded my hands on the writing bench I rested my head on it. On hearing footsteps, I raised my head in the direction of the sound and saw Loren was entering in the class.

Him again?

He didn’t react to my presence was busy arranging the books.  Within a couple of minutes, everyone entered and took their seats. I could see the same reaction in all the faces which means this is new to everyone.

When we all settled he spoke.
“Principal asks me to continue physics and math along with chemistry to make it easier for you people.”

A smile crept on everyone’s faces especially girls.

Class ended smoothly at 12′ noon. I rushed out to pick Adam. And bought some fried chicken and pancakes for him. After dropping him home I was back at college.

This is really tiring picking and dropping in the middle of the college.
While thinking of this brother’s words ranged in my mind.

I have things to do after college and I am already tired.

Classes went on as usual and college ends.

Mr. Black

A hand hit my left cheek which woke me up from my sleep. I didn’t even bother to look who it was as its Adam for sure. He cuddles while sleeping and end up hitting me. Unlike me, a single touch or sound awakes me.

“He slapped me.” I murmured while slightly rubbing my cheek and searched for my phone to see the time. Found out I was awake five minutes earlier than the alarm. I tickled Adam and whispered in his ear. “Wake up.”

“Hmm-hmm.” He replied in a sleepy voice with closed eyes. Responding means he is awake. So, I left him and went to the kitchen to prepare cereal for us. And we got ready quickly to leave.

Dropping him to school, I wished him good luck for his exams and drove straight to my college. I was heading towards the main door. The heavily blowing autumn wind was messing my silky black hair where its coldness was showing the arrival of the winter. Everything was ablaze with color in autumn.

I like this season it gives different colors to plain green leaves.

It’s so strange that autumn is so beautiful, yet everything is dying.

Hmm, is dying is beautiful?
How does it feel?

I reached my class lost in my thoughts.

Chemistry would have been more interesting if chemicals were living beings. Little ball of blue chlorine and another ball of pink potassium run towards each other while shining bright, whoosh!!  Interacted. And produce a big ball of what? A purple plorine? Or chlotassiun? Wow!!

My little chemical movie was interrupted by Jacob. He sat beside me and stretched his hand towards me. “Math notes.”

“Not again.” I narrowed my eyes at him.

“Always. Be quick please.” He said, and I handed my notes to him. He never does his work and always copies from mine. The physics replaced out chemistry class and schedule went on as usual. During language class, I sat on the second bench and Jacob right behind me. A girl walked in and sat beside me. It surprised me to see someone rather than Jacob was sitting beside me. She has brown hair with red ends. Thin eyebrows, big shiny hazel eyes while her nose was pink and barely visible lips were colored red. She was wearing a knee length dress.

Is it a cold, or she cried causing her nose to turn red? I haven’t seen her before. Maybe she is newly enrolled or maybe I am noticing her now. My observation was disturbed when she sneezed. Yeah, she did have a cold.

“Sorry.” She murmured.

Oh! She doesn’t have to apologize.”Bless you,” I said.

Class ended and lunch starts. I made my way towards our class as I never go to the cafeteria. I don’t like the crowded place and everyone’s’ voices disturbed my reading which I mostly do during lunch. I was reading a book with a sandwich in my hand. On hearing disturbing voices, I raised my head and saw students were entering the class which means lunch ended.

Oh! Crap! Lunch ends i.e. 12:30 Oh no!!! Adam!! Because of his assessments, his school ends at 12 noon.

I have to hurry.

Picking up my book and the backpack I hurried out. As soon as I stepped out of the class, I bumped into someone and my forehead hit that someone’s nose. I glanced up at the person he was a tall boy almost 6’feet with black shiny hair and dark eyebrows. His blue-green eyes sparkle when he looked down at me. A pink nose and water in his eyes assure that he really got hit hard. Lips were perfect in pink color and a V-shaped jawline. He was wearing a black shirt with folded sleeves below the elbow. Exposing his muscled arms. And black trousers with black shoes. My eyes went wide on his complete black attire as black is my favorite color. Everything about him was black except his cold blue-green eyes which met my blue ones. Why cold? I didn’t bump into you intentionally. I was lost in my observation which was turning into a stare. Quickly stepping aside, I murmured a sorry and rushed towards the main door. I guess he is new like ‘red end hair’ girl.

He called me on my back. “You have a class to attend.”

Who is he to say that?
“None of your concern Mister,” I replied without turning and disappeared from his sight.

I quickly drove to Adam’s school. He was waiting for me with hands crossed over his chest and a leg tapping on the ground. I horned to aware my presence. He angrily walked towards me with heavy footsteps and sat. Throwing his bag on backseat he tugged off his shoes and folded his legs.

I drove silently for a while then, clear my throat.

“You are not supposed to sit with folded legs in the car,” I said in a normal tone.

“My legs are paining as I stood for a long time.” He snapped, reminding me of my mistake then and added. “You’re late by 45 minutes Levy!”

“Hey! I’m 7 years older than you. Do not call me by my name,” I said in a bossy sister tone.

“Yet irresponsible.” He shouted back at me.

“Fine, my mistake. So, what do you want? Burger or pizza?” I asked.

I’m sure he will tell both.

“Both.”

Yeah, I knew that.

Not ice-cream?

“And strawberry-vanilla ice cream.” He added.

I smiled and turned my car towards a nearby shop and bought a pizza, a burger, strawberry-vanilla and chocolate hazelnut ice cream. While I was leaving I saw an old lady who was confusingly looking at the money in her hands.

I walked towards her and ask about her confusion.

“Can I get a Burger with this money? He never ate one before.” She asked, gesturing her head towards a kid beside her.

“Yes, you can. Do you want 2?” I offered my help.

“Yes. Even grandma hasn’t eaten any.” kid responded while hiding himself behind her.

I took the money from her hand and went to the counter. This money was not enough. Adding mine I bought 2 Burgers for them. And thought to give her some money back but didn’t do so. This might cause her problem if she visits the shop again.

As I was about to leave, a hand on my arm stopped me. I turn towards the old lady she smiled at me and whispered.

“Be safe.”

Was it a blessing? I opened my mouth to ask then stopped.

Mostly people bless you as to be happy, God bless you but be safe? Well doesn’t matter.

When I was in the car, Adam frowned at me.

“Who’s she? Why were you talking to her? And what did you give her?”

I ignored his questions and ask mine. “You were keeping an eye on me from the window?”

He continued his. “Brother told you not to talk with strangers. Why did you do that?”

“C’mon Adam it was just an old lady who needed some help, that’s it. You don’t have to make such a big fuss about it.”

He kept quiet and we drove silently. Brother always pampered us, as we leave alone. Well, that’s understandable.

We got home and had our food. Time passed while I was reading a book which I took from the mother’s library room. It was a book on business management, named as ‘Good to Great’ by an author ‘James C. Collins’. Adam was watching TV. We were interrupted by the sound of our telephone. Yes, we do have a telephone.

“I’ll get it,” Adam said and lifted the receiver.

“Brother!” He said.

I took out my phone to see the time, it’s 03:05 pm.

He never calls at this time.

After having a long conversation with him almost 37 minutes. He then called me.

“Hey, Admund,” I said in a teasing manner.

“Call me brother, I’m older than you.” Was a predictable reply from him.

“Brother.” I added then asked “Anything special for calling at such an odd time?”

I waited for his reply.

“What? No way.” I frowned at him.

*waiting till he speaks*

“No-no. I cannot do that. That’s highly impossible for me.” I protested.

*waiting*

“But they are all older than me.”

*waiting*

“What if they won’t listen-” he cuts me off.

*waiting*

“Will that works?” I asked.

*waiting*

“I’ll try,” I said slowly.

“Your best.” He said.

“Of course, I will try MY BEST”.
I said stressing on the words ‘my best’ and hung off the phone.

Mother

I tried to keep my concentration in the book, to know what happens when these chemicals interact with each other. Some alphabets with numbers as their base, we call it as chemical formulas, were being added to a similar kind of others.

Bang! I messed up again. I could never score well in chemistry. I sighed and rested my forehead on the book. As soon as I did that a hand hit on the back of my head.

“Miss. Sherly,” I said, and positioned myself. She is our chemistry teacher whose teaching pierces through my ear. I don’t know where her words go. They landed everywhere but my brain.

“Show me what you did Miss. Troustkey.” She snatched the book from my hand.

“No.” Before I could tell a word my book was in her hands. She examined it for a long time.

Oh-no!  Just return it. Don’t see it.

“What is this?” She snapped.

I was expecting this reaction from her as I drew my imaginary characters in the book. Giving each character a name depending upon its type. If a chemical was a liquid, I drew a fluid character. If it’s a gas, a smoky character, and if it’s a metal a stony character. I need some tricks to understand chemistry. I heard a sound that brought me out of my imagination. A sound of paper being torn.

“No.” The moment I was getting a bit of it, she ruined it. My best efforts were in vain because of her sweet action. She heavily stamped my book on the table and continued her teaching. I sat there quietly with a thought she killed my little friends.

After some time, the class ended and Jacob turned towards me.

“What was that?” He questioned.

“She killed my friends,” I replied.

He laughed at my words and said. “Do you get anything she taught?”

“No.” I shook my head.

Next was a math class one of my favorites. I love doing the math, that stuff is logical, unlike chemistry. Later, physics class. Again, my favorite because physics have logic too. These maths, physics and language classes went with ease. No lunch gossip as I don’t have many friends. To be precise, Jacob is my only friend.

Finally, the tiring day ended. I was heading towards the locker room and saw Afrodoid a light skin girl with blonde hair tied in a messy ponytail. Some flicks of her hair were falling on her blue eyes. She has a small nose, thin pink lips, and curved jawline. Her features were like a doll with a perfect figure covered with a black skirt and red top. She was leaning over a guy who was resting on the locker with his hands circled around her waist. I couldn’t see him as his face back was facing me. His hair was the only visible thing.

“Levy.” I shifted my gaze to Jacob. A huge smile was plastered on his face.

Something good had happened that smile shows it clearly.

“Guess what?” He asked with excitement.

“Chemistry banned?” If this is what happened, I will be on cloud nine.

“No. You can say the teacher though,” He replied.

“Explanation please,” I demanded.

“She is getting married and will move to her husbands’ place,” He explained.

Happiness reanimated my imaginary friends but was no longer.  As there can be a replacement for the lecture.

“Don’t you think there will be a replacement?” I asked.

“There will be but it takes time. Till then we are free.” He answered happily raising his hands in the air on ‘free’. I kept looking at him he is slim and tall. 2-3 inches taller than me. His brown curly hair was falling on one side. He has sea-green eyes with a sharp nose and pink lips that are curved into a smile for now. And sharp jawline.

“Let’s have a little celebration for this.” His waving hand in front of my eyes brought me back from my observation. I narrowed my eyes at him indicating that this is no time for the celebration and then realized it’s almost time to pick Adam from the school. I hurried out with a quick bye to Jacob and drove my black Mercedes to Arrow Smith High.

Halted my car near the school’s gate, I saw Adam walking towards me while his silky black hair was bouncing as he walks. He has chocolate brown eyes, unlike mine which is blue. A small nose and pink lips. Adam is my 10-year-old, super cute brother. I unlock the doors and he slid into the passenger’s seat. Throwing his bag in the back seat he smiled at me.

His cute little smile.

We got home and I unlocked the door. He kept his bag on the table, tugged off his shoes and heavily jumped on the couch to rest. I walked to the kitchen and started preparing chicken soup and vegetable rice. After getting fresh we had our dinner not in silence as Adam was babbling about how his day went then abruptly went quiet.

This is suspicious.

I cleared my throat and asked. “What happened?”

“My assessments are starting from tomorrow.” He wasn’t looking at me but down at the plate.

“So that never bothered you.”

“I have to submit a poem on mothers. The marks will count.”

His words froze me for a while. Our mother died six years ago. He was hardly 4 and never knew how a mother is or her love felt like. I had a vivid memory of her being in the hospital where a bottle of glucose was hanging beside her bed. After her dead brother was the one who took care of us along with Lady Anna – our maid. Now, brother lives in a different county handling mothers’ international business.

“Why don’t I help you with your work?” I questioned more like a statement.

“Really?” He asked with twinkling eyes.

He asked because I never helped him in his work and always acts like a bossy old sister. I didn’t want him to be dependent on me.

I affirmatively nodded.

We quickly finished our food. He ran towards his bag. Took out a pen and a paper and sat on the couch.

I thought for a while before writing then started.

MOTHER

A mother is the one who brought you into this world,
she is the person who cares for you before she cares for her.
When you feel sad, she’ll be on your side,
wipe your tears with a sweet warm smile.
She is with you in each step you take,
Guide you to a line which you lead.
She adores seeing you joyful,
glad when you are cheerful.

Though you hurt her and make her cry,
she never shows the pain and keeps on a smile.
She repeats each word to make you clear,
you can’t say it twice when she couldn’t hear.
She deserves more than she does,
you never know what pain she goes.
When you realize in your mind,
there will be no time,
she’ll be gone from the word of mine.

After finishing, I glanced at the paper and thought. Isn’t it big for him? but flicked that thought away by big enough for good marks.

As long as Adam was happy that’s enough. Later, I went into my room to do chemistry work but Jacob’s words stopped me from doing so. Skipped it for the first time and went for a bath.

Before going to bed we played PS4. A game called Tekken, one-on-one and went to sleep at 9 pm. Adam never sleeps alone. He’s afraid of darkness and always tiptoed into my room after an hour, with a hope that I will be asleep. He then makes him comfortable under my blanket. Unaware of the fact that I always watched him crawling up my bed.

book, fiction story

The book

Hello everyone today I have created my website for publishing my artwork of stories, poems, quotes and comic. Have a glance and leave feedback.

The book is a romance fiction with a little suspense.

“Call me sir” he demanded.

“What?” I heard it correct yet asked again to make sure did I hear correct?

“Don’t your thick head get things at once?” He asked furrowing his eyebrows without moving his gaze from mine.

No way I am going to call him sir. Thick head! It’s the second time he told that. What does he think of himself?

I cleared my throat and spoke.

“Firstly, I’m not going to call you sir. I’m not your slave to do so. And secondly, I don’t have a thick head.” I protested.

“Slave? Seeing a word by its abbreviation.” He quirked a brow. “Your thick head has a little knowledge in it.”

This time he inched more close while the corner of his perfect lips shifted to a smirk.

Move back, Mister!

“Yes, I do see a word by its meaning,” I said, trying not to fall in his gaze.

(S.I.R = Slave – I – Remain)

He got closer and closer and stooped near my ear while keeping his hands on the table, either side of me. I could feel his lips brushing against my earlobe when he spoke in a low deep voice. “If you don’t, I’ll cancel this deal.”

‘No! I can’t let this happen.’

I am either drown into the deep green sea or flew up into the bright blue sky, for sure I was lost in his blue-green eyes.

Time marched by days into months and months into a year. Everything in my life has changed but one thing remains the same. Years ago I would’ve never pictured my life the way it is now.
